Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy differs from “talk therapy” in that we don’t try to “analyze” or figure out what’s “wrong” with you. Indeed, it’s usually the case that whatever someone thinks their problem is, the outward manifestation masks a more potent underlying issue, hidden from conscious thought. (Which makes sense when you think about it—after all, if you knew what the problem was, you’d address it and move on.)
It’s only fair to point out that this underlying issue will also emerge in work with a competent psychotherapist—and almost invariably it will surface much, much faster with a competent hypnotherapist.
Hypnotherapy is a drugless short-term therapy that, properly done, effectively addresses:
Compulsive behaviors (smoking, overeating,.nailbiting, etc.)
Phobias
Post-traumatic stress
Grief issues
Insomnia
Pain management
Relationship issues
Sports performance
Creative blocks
Weight management
Physical, emotional, and sexual abuse
Stage fright
Test anxiety
…and virtually anything else that may be troubling you
Alchemical Hypnotherapy
I practice alchemical hypnotherapy, which my first teacher, David Quigley, called “the Ferrari of therapies.” He said not everyone is ready for a Ferrari—some may prefer talk therapy.
Alchemy quickly gets to the root of issues by bypassing the mind’s explanations and accessing the subconscious and body, where trauma is stored. Unlike other hypnotherapy, Alchemy involves working with spirit guides.
Even difficult issues can be resolved in two or three sessions. If you seek total transformation, we can do that too.
Hypnosis isn’t about “going under” but meeting you where you are. Clients remain in control throughout. In reality, we’re already in trances shaped by conditioning. This is a chance to follow your own path, guided by your inner wisdom. Every session is unique.
Awakening The Muse Groups
The reason for doing a 75-minute session is to help you gain clarity for your vision and help clear away the blocks.
Artists are healers, but their work can’t fully thrive if they are spiritually and emotionally undernourished. The creative process often requires solitary effort in environments that can feel indifferent or even hostile, leaving many artists discouraged.
Awakening the Muse groups offer tools and energy to bridge the gap between thought and action in a supportive, dynamic space. Guided by teachings from Julia Cameron ("The Artist’s Way"), Rick Rubin ("The Creative Act"), and the collective wisdom of the group, participants meet weekly for eight weeks. By the end, you’ll leave your old self behind and be well on your way to achieving your artistic goals.
We’ll make use of Guided imagery,
Selected readings,
Constructive feedback
Fun homework
The members of the group provide great support for each other. Now that Zoom is a thing, we can meet in real time with people from all over the world.
Requirement to participate in Awakening The Muse group: I 75-minute hypnotherapy session with Jerry.
Recovery From Alcoholism And Addictions
The current treatment approach to the treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism considers these twin phenomena a disease. But chemical dependency is more than a physical condition. It has been aptly characterized as a disease of loneliness, grief, isolation, and shame. I call it a “soul disease.”
Individual hypnotherapy sessions take on the core issues that must be addressed by people recovering from addictions to drugs and/or alcohol, as the addiction amounts to a misguided attempt to alleviate the pain stemming from those core issues. These sessions are not a replacement for ongoing professional treatment; nor are they intended to replace attending AA or NA meetings or other support groups. But the sessions make for a powerful adjunctive practice.
I also work on physical issues, including sleep problems and ailments that don’t respond to standard medical treatment.
Why? In my practice, I’ve found that physical pain often has an emotional component. While pain may stem from an injury, the subconscious often reveals an emotional link. Addressing that emotional layer can significantly reduce, if not eliminate, discomfort. For unexplained pain, emotional healing is even more likely to help. If traditional methods haven’t worked, it’s worth a try—if my session doesn’t help, you won’t pay a cent.
Legal disclaimer: This work is not intended to heal, cure, or diagnose any disease.
Tarot Readings
Tarot is an interpretive art with no fixed meanings. For example, the “Empress” may signify pregnancy or nurturing an idea, depending on the context. Unlike other divination decks, tarot is more nuanced.
I’ve been reading tarot for most of my adult life. One client shared:
"Seeing Jerry in 2021, I expected little but left with clarity and focus. His readings are fun, insightful, and surprisingly humorous. He uses multiple decks, deeply attuned to understanding. I was so impressed that I brought three friends—each equally amazed. Even over Zoom, his talent shines. Jerry is a gifted advisor, blending kindness, humor, and warmth." —Tracy R., Little Rock, AK.
Tarot pairs well with hypnotherapy. If time allows, I offer a quick reading at the end of a session, or you can book both together.
